Description
Paolo Soprani Black Badge Chromatic Accordion . The accordion is vintage and could use some maintenance. The accordion still plays and all the buttons appear to be working fine. As i mentioned I am no expert . The reason I opened it is because some of the treble buttons do not appear to have any effect on making a sound. I was told that it comes this way, to create the feeling of having a lot of buttons even though some do not have any effect on making a sound. So to make sure of this I opened it played every treble key and saw that although some of the treble keys had no effect on lifting a sound stop valve , every valve stop was opened by one of the keys on the keyboard. There was not one valve that was not opened by one of the treble keys .So out of all the treble buttons pictured some are just for cosmetics and have no effect. The accordion has a very unique color . There does not seem to be any damage to the body that I can tell . The black badges are a little bit faded. The bellows still hold air but i would say it could use a new one. Not sure of it because the weight of the instrument. is quite heavy and the bass side does come down slowly when left to free fall. Please note when i put the accordion on its back side i noticed the bass keys not all but 1 or 2 stayed in the pushed in position. But after i turned it back on upright the buttons came back and played fine. Either way this probably needs attention at some point.
The grill fabric on the under body could use replacing as some has come off , the top grill fabric seems fine. I believe it could use a tuning because of it's age, however it still plays nicely.
Still used so please expect that.
