The thermometer measures temperature from -50 to 300 degrees C (-58 to 572 degrees F), with an accuracy of + or -1 degree C. The stainless-steel stem of the thermometer is 11.4" long and has a diameter of 0.13". The handle of the thermometer is 3" long with a diameter of 0.5", with an LCD display with 0.4"-high digits for increased visibility. The thermometer is traceable to National Institute of Standards and Technology standards, indicating that it is calibrated to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 17025 levels. The Thomas extra-long stem thermometer is used in tissue culturing, chemical experiments, and other scientific functions.
