Description
Vintage Marsh Instrument Company Skokie Illinois Industrial Thermometer / GuageUp for bid and for your consideration is a vintage Marsh Instrument Company, of Skokie Illinois, Industrial Thermometer / Guage.
This thermometer would be great in a modern industrial style home or for anyone who likes vintage thermometers! It would be a wonderful addition to your collection!
The details:
It measures 4-3/4 inches in diameter and about 1-1/4 inches deep not including the mounting bolts. The cable for the cable for the temperature sensor is about 7 feet long.
It has a cream colored dial with black Arabic numerals in 10 degree increments, dashes represent the one degree increments.
The indicator is black colored and just a straight pointer with a little three tail flare on the other end.
It is marked "Fahrenheit" near the bottom of the dial between the start and end of the tempreture scale and "Marsh Instrument Company, Skokie Ill., Made in U.S.A." at the very bottom of the dial.
The case is made of black painted metal. The case attracts a magnet.
It would be attached to a wall or what ever by three nuts and bolts positioned at the top and lower third of each side of the case.
The cable that leads to the temperature sensor is in good condition. It has quite a few bends but no kinks or breaks. There is a break in the wrap just above where it goes into the sensor. The sensor wire is still intact.
The sensor looks like it would screw into something, may be a kettle or something like that.
And best of all... It works! and seems really accurate. Yes, the temperature showing is correct. I take my photos outdoors and that's Houston in the summer! There is a recalibration screw on the dial, but it looks like you have to take it apart to recalibrate it. There are screws on the side to take off the top piece and get to the dial.
Cosmetically this thermometer is in really nice condition, it has the amount of wear to give it "the look", or you could completely restore it, either way it is a really cool, usable piece.
This thermometer would be great in a modern industrial style home or for anyone who likes vintage thermometers! It would be a wonderful addition to your collection! Maybe you know someone who would enjoy this as a gift? Why not bid now?!
